Sophistication is having, revealing, or proceeding from a great deal of worldly experience and knowledge of fashion and culture.
I try to be as sophisticated as possible in my life. I keep up with current events/trends, run multiple social media fronts, travel often, and speak with experts from around the world to grow my knowledge.
I had an instructor in college that told me to be a sponge, and just soak everything up. I do my best to exemplify just that.
Well today, I received a low frequency hate message regarding a past blog post, and wanted to unpack this as to help others when they are faced with a pudknocker.
I write these blogs as a form of journaling for myself. I hope that those that follow these walk away with something from my bantering. Good or bad.
That’s why you’re here isn’t it?
So, this dude, let’s call him Skittles, decided to sit down and take time out of his day to message the post with a paragraph of heartfelt emotion, complete with emoji’s.
Skittles ensured to hit the key notes of my shortcomingS. Being a poor leader. Inaccuracies. Going against what he believes in, and just overall how awful I am.
Evaluate this on a human level. Skittles knows nothing about the writer other than a few posts. Literal minutes from someone’s decades on this planet…
He then takes the time, to clear his mind, and conjure up the most important and critical paragraph of his day- you know, to take the writer down a notch.
People… People…
If you follow someone, and you take the time out of your day to spend with the page, realize that it is fully your decision to be there. No one else’s.
Be more sophisticated. Be more polite. Have some class.
Shaming a stranger on the internet from a private account is a low frequency activity.
I am 1000% certain that Skittles is not living the life he wishes he was, and that message to a blog post was his announcement to everyone that he is special, important, and requires attention.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Lead by your actions.
Be more sophisticated and educate yourself fully before you react.
At the end of the day, those closest to you are the only ones that matter. The Queen of England and one of the wealthiest humans to exist on the planet passed in September, and I bet you haven’t thought about that until I just mentioned it.
Be better.
